Integrity
Integrity signifies a sound, unimpaired and original condition. There must be no unauthorised alterations to the input transactions at any step during processing.
Intelligent Transfer
A feature of a CTI system whereby the host controls the simultaneous transfer of a telephone call and associated data between agents or between a VPU and an agent.
IP
Internet Protocol
ISDN
Integrated Services Digital Network. A specific type of switch-based digital telecommunications service. There are two types of ISDN services: ISDN Basic Rate Interface (ISDN BRI - 2B+D), and ISDN Primary Rate Interface (ISDN PRI - 30B+D).
ISDN BRI
ISDN Basic Rate Interface. A switched digital telecommunications service that carries 4 streams (channels) of information over a single set of telephone wire. Two of the three channels - Bearer or B Channels - have a transmission rate of up to 64 kbps. The B channels can carry digitised voice, data, images, and / or video. Typically, one channel is for voice and the other is for data. The third channel - the Signalling or D channel - has a transmission rate of 16 kbps. The fourth 8 kbps channel is for maintenance. ISDN BRI is intended for termination to an individual desktop or data communications device. It is meant for multimedia communications and for the interconnection of LANs between sites in place of analogue/modem connections. The device that terminates an ISDN BRI connection is called an ISDN Terminal Adapter.
ISDN TA
ISDN Terminal Adapter. This is the device that terminates an ISDN BRI digital connection. If the line were analogue, the terminating device would be a modem or a telephone set instead. Also see TA. ISO 8601 Specifies numeric representations of date and time. This standard notation helps to avoid confusion in international communication caused by the many different national notations and increase the portability of computer user interfaces. In addition, these formats have several important advantages for computer usage compared to other more traditional date and time notations. The time notation described here is already the de-facto standard in almost all countries and the date notation is becoming increasingly popular.
ITU
International Telecommunication Union.
ITU-T
Telecommunications Standardisation Sector to the International Telecommunications Union formally called CCITT (International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee)
IVR
Interactive Voice Response. An IVR unit uses pre-recorded voice responses to provide information in response to DTMF or voice input from a telephone caller. The sequence of messages may be determined dynamically by this input.
