Local Area Network. A term describing the system of cabling, software, and services that support the interconnection of computer equipment. LANs are the strategic method of interconnecting personal computers, workstations, minicomputers, servers and mainframe computers. Digital telephone switching is involved in a large percentage of inter-site LANs via E1, ISDN, and other telecommunications network facilities.

Compression is used in a network to get more traffic across a single facility, such as an T1 trunk.

Equates to computer based telemarketing, which allows for a main Calling List to be processed sequentially with the end product being a list of prospects, or a list of sales, or both.

List Management System. A system that allows for the automatic management of customer Calling Lists. Its major function is to merge and purge duplicates between lists obtained from multiple computer systems.
